2015

The Redwine case is an indication in some sense of how important the right to trial by jury is. It is what stood between Mr. Redwine and jail and a conviction of a criminal offense. The collective common sense of a jury is a powerful weapon to protect a person from overreaching. In the end the case generated enough outcry to receive a write up in the post and corrective legislative action. Dickson Young tried the case to a jury; the original charge was a felony assault on a Police Officer, which was amended to a misdemeanor; a Jury verdict was obtained within 15 minutes and Mr. Redwine found not guilty. 2011

After a two-day trial in Fairfax, the jury agreed and convicted the defendant of the misdemeanor of assault and battery.
