DUI charges just the beginning for Virginia man
A fatal auto accident recently took place on a Campbell County road. That tragic event has led to a number of devastating outcomes for multiple families. One man has been charged with DUI in connection with the accident, and could face additional charges in the weeks ahead. Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
The crash took place near rush-hour on a recent Friday. A man driving a Toyota Highlander was traveling on Route 501. It is reported that the driver attempted to pass another vehicle when he encountered a Honda Odyssey that was traveling in the opposite direction. As a result, a head-on collision took place.
The driver of the Honda and his wife were injured in the accident, but the nature of those injuries is reported to be non-life-threatening. An elderly passenger in their vehicle, however, suffered far more serious injuries. She lost her life while under hospital care later that day.
The driver of the Toyota was arrested and charged with DUI, as well as driving on a revoked license. He and his four passengers were also injured in the accident, although all are expected to recover. In the weeks ahead, it is possible that the Virginia driver will face additional charges in the incident, which could include charges related to the loss of life that took place during the crash. If so, his legal troubles will be magnified, and he will need to take an even more aggressive stance in presenting a defense to the court.
